Devon Cafe

With names like black diamond and black pearl, truffles tend to be associated with

posh places, but that's changed in the past decade or so, and one place that

spearheaded that change is Surry Hills’ Devon Cafe.

This eatery has a truffle menu that made these luxurious ingredients accessible to everyone.

Their Ultimate Toastie truly put Devon on the truffle map, taking the simple toastie to the next level with sauteed mushrooms, truffle scrambled eggs, melted cheese, kombu butter, and fresh truffle.

As Devon grew, so did their truffle creations.

The next dish to hit cult status is Black Truffle Sundae — a Hokkaido soft-serve in a waffle cone, drizzled with truffle honey, sprinkled with sea salt, frosted cornflakes, and topped with shaved truffle.

It’s a must-try — and a delicious example of how truffles have developed their mass appeal.

IIKO Mazesoba

Traditional milk pudding is already a classic, but IIKO Mazesoba takes it to a new

level by adding truffle honey and Australian black truffle — making it divine.

Known for their savoury, brothless ramen, IIKO Mazesoba has crafted an impressive truffle

menu featuring dishes like wagyu truffle mazesoba, duck truffle mazesoba, and a

truffle wagyu don with white rice.

Complementing the savoury selection is the truffle

milk pudding, which they describe as “lusciously jiggly and soft, with a creamy

richness and earthy truffle notes that linger on the palate”.

The light and sweet dessert is a lovely treat after a bowl of rich, flavourful noodles.

Infinity, Sydney Tower

Infinity’s six-course truffle degustation is truly something special.

Perched 81 floors above the CBD in a revolving restaurant, it offers more than just stunning views.

The menu, usually three to four courses, features rich WA Manjimup truffles, known for

their incredible flavour thanks to the region’s perfect truffle-growing conditions.

Head chef Guillaume Gritteret brings his French flair to Australian ingredients, with dishes like Abrolhos scallops and venison backstrap.

But the real star is the dessert — a caramel and banana cream mille-feuille topped with black truffle, served with vanilla ice cream and paired with the sweet 2022 Château Lapinesse Semillon Sauternes (when you opt for matching wines).

If you're still craving truffles, don’t miss their truffle cocktail made with Hennessy XO cognac, Manuka honey, and truffle oil, dramatically served in a treasure chest.

Cost is $250pp, optional wine pairing $100pp and it is available through to the end of August.

Freo Atelier

Federico Zanellato, the owner/chef behind casual fine dining restaurant LuMi in

Pyrmont and Lode Pies & Pastries in Surry Hills, has just launched Freo, a boutique

froyo and express gelato (soft-serve gelato) shop that's his sweetest venture yet.

Using pot-set yogurts from the Riverina, everything is made fresh daily, ensuring top-

notch quality. The menu leans heavily into Japanese-inspired flavours, like Japanese

strawberry froyo and black sesame gelato with bamboo charcoal.

This August, Freo is all about showcasing fresh black truffles from WA, Tasmania, and NSW. The star of the show? The Truffle Express Gelato, topped with luxurious shaved truffle. You

can also elevate your treat with a drizzle of Callebaut chocolate, melted Lotus Biscoff, or Freo’s signature Salted Caramel.

And for a fun twist, remember to top it off with a fortune cookie.

Lana

Lana, a modern Italian restaurant at Hinchcliff House in Circular Quay, is jumping on

the truffle trend this year. They’ve introduced a truffle gelato ($34) made with

Western Australian truffles and creamy ricotta.

Executive chef Alex Wong's creation includes crispy crostoli (perfect for scooping) and a drizzle of honey for extra sweetness.
