Abbie Chatfield was left in complete shock when she discovered her boyfriend was behind a cruel prank, describing it as “f****d”.

Abbie Chatfield was reading out a jaw-dropping love letter sent in by a “listener” — but little did she know it had actually been written by her boyfriend Konrad Bien-Stephens.

The former Bachelor contestant was not impressed when she discovered she was being pranked on the latest episode of her podcast, It’s A Lot, describing it as “f****d”.

But thankfully she saw the humour in it.

What started out as a cringe-worthy email from an “obsessed fan”, quickly backfired into Abbie, 26, thinking she was getting proposed to.

The “listener” was asking for help proposing to his girlfriend, but Abbie picked up on certain hints quickly realising Konrad was playing a prank.

“I have given this a lot of thought and I have wanted to propose for quite some time,” Abbie said, while reading out the letter.

“I am now wondering whether you would help me at your live show by helping me propose to (my girlfriend) live on stage.”

However, as Abbie continued to read out the love note, she noticed a line she and Konrad, 31, call each other.

“Why does he call me ‘my little lizard’ at the end,” Abbie asks her producer.

Konrad can then be heard on the phone laughing.

“That’s not funny,” a shocked Abbie says, repeating the line again.

“Hey little lizard,” Konrad says.

“Hey babe. That’s f****d, did you write all this?” she asks him.

“April Fool’s babe,” Konrad responds, while cackling.

“There’s no proposal. There’s no guy, there’s no girl.”

He said the letter was a team effort and that he “played his little part in it”.

“It was thought out by … everyone there and I’ve played my little part in it. But I am the obsessed one, maybe not to that point. There’s no proposal,” he said about the “listener” in the fake love letter.

Abbie admitted there was a moment she thought it was Konrad, describing it as a “hellish minute”.

“And then I thought I dug my own grave because I’ve been sending him engagement rings,” Abbie said.

The producer then chimes in and said: “I told him to make it clear it is not a proposal”, to which Abbie responded: “Well he didn’t, (Konrad) just sat there like haha.”

“But seriously though babe, we’re all so proud of you with the podcast, the live show and the radio show. You touch everyone around you,” Konrad told her.

“I love you. I do touch you a lot,” she joked.

Abbie continued that she “really thought” Konrad was proposing.

“It was horror after horror,” she said. “I don’t do April Fool’s I am not a prank queen.

“Konrad don’t propose like that ever, don’t do it (with) a surprise,” Abbie told him.

“Nah, it would be a surprise, but it can’t be that. Maybe I will come out on one of your live shows and do it in front of thousands of people.”

The loved-up pair met late last year while Konrad was a contestant on Brooke Blurton’s The Bachelorette, with Brooke claiming it “tainted” her season.

However, in February, Abbie dropped a relationship bombshell revealing she and Konrad had recently become a non-exclusive couple.

“First of all, we’re in love. Mummy and daddy aren’t breaking up … We’re just having a different structure to our relationship. So we’re open. We’re in an open relationship, which we love,” Abbie said.

Konrad added: “I’ve never been in an open relationship before. But it’s something I want to explore and I want to navigate and learn. Someone we met on the weekend gave us some good tips. Go see a sex therapist, talk about what your boundaries are … Because it’s not like you can just go sleep with anyone.”
