Wayne Carey flees the country after hitting the headlines for his alleged toilet tryst video

Wayne Carey has fled the country with his family after hitting the headlines for an alleged toilet tryst video that went viral.

Wayne Carey has fled the country with his family to “escape from reality”.

The former footy great who recently hit the headlines for an alleged toilet tryst video that went viral, said he’d taken his children on a holiday to an Asian country.

“Couldn’t be better where I am,’’ Carey said.

“No one knows where you are, and where I am, who I am. Just a beautiful part of the world this is.

“I’m not Australia’s most wanted at the minute. Anyone that wants to escape from reality, take four children, put them on a plane and if you think you’re escaping from reality — you’re kidding yourself.”

Carey spoke on Sam Newman’s podcast while sitting by a pool — with a three hour time difference — and said he was away with his partner Jessica Paulke with whom he shares two sons.

Newman hinted he was in Malaysia.

“Just withdrawn from the public arena for the time being, just to gather yourself,’’ Newman said.

“You’ve got on a plane with your four children and you’ve left the country.”

Carey said: “I’m not going to be on Banged Up Abroad.

“We’re at a Sofitel, we’re in an Asian country.

“I rolled up last night and they had a cake with kangaroos on it, even had my number 18 on the cake.”

He added: “The reason why (we’re away) it’s not school holidays because you want to get out of mainstream. I’ve pulled the kids out of school and said let’s do it now. One because it’s not as busy, two we’ll make it educational.

“If you take your children away outside of school time you’ve got to sort of make it educational. Teach them about where you are, what the history of the country is and what our relevance to that country is. We just got here late last night which is why I’m a little dusty.”

Carey said he’d been given the nickname ‘toilet duck’ after he was filmed at Toorak Cellars in Armadale, emerging from the bathroom area roughly 20 seconds after Melbourne executive Kate Aston.

Sources have told the Herald Sun that the scenes at the bar about 5pm were “unbelievable”. “It wasn’t subtle. It was guttural. And it went on for a while. Loads of people went to have a closer listen because they couldn’t believe it,’’ the source said.

Both Carey and Aston denied any wrongdoing, with Carey saying it was a breach of privacy and “slut shaming” and vowing he’d follow up with police and lawyers.

Aston condemned those who filmed and gossiped on the video, saying it was a “deliberate act of bullying” and she was also consulting with lawyers.

Last week Sydney radio host Ben Fordham facetiously wondered if Carey had saved the life of Aston because “she might have been choking on a prawn or an oyster that she had in the restaurant”.
