The rebirth of TV soap Neighbours is a step closer with several cast announced to return to Ramsay Street.
Confidential can reveal Annie Jones is back in the fold as Jane Harris following the long-running show being given a lifeline after it was unexpectedly axed last year.
“I’m beyond excited to be back for this new chapter of Neighbours,” Jones said.
“It was totally unexpected but an absolute delight to be asked again to join the cast. I can’t wait to see what adventures are in store for Jane.”
The news comes a few months after Confidential broke the story that the show had secured Amazon Freevee and Prime Video as international broadcast partners.
It was major international news when Neighbours was shelved after a 37-year run last year.
Tim Kano is also back as Leo Tanaka while Georgie Stone returns as Mackenzie Hargreaves and Rebekah Elmaloglou is Terese Willis.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing how Leo has progressed as a father, it was a huge learning curve for him and myself raising baby Abigail,” Kano said.
“I’m ecstatic to be returning to Neighbours and reuniting with the family.”
Already announced to return to fictional Erinsborough were Alan Fletcher, Jackie Woodburne, Ryan Moloney and Stefan Dennis.
Ian Smith, playing Harold Bishop, is set to return in a guest role when the show begins production over the coming months, as is April Rose Pengilly and Melissa Bell.
“We are thrilled to announce the latest round of returnees and there will be more in the coming months,” Neighbours executive producer Jason Herbison said.
“The next chapter of Neighbours will be a wonderful mix of the familiar and the new. It will be the Erinsborough we love and remember, with fresh twists and surprises.”
Of her return, Elmaloglou said: ““Honestly, I’m just as much in the dark as our fans and equally as excited, and a little nervous to see what the writers have planned for Terese. No doubt Paul (Stefan Dennis) will be lurking in the background.”
