First, it was snakes, then security guards and now spoilers are the latest to come out of the new Thor: Love And Thunder set in Sydney’s southeast.
The set began to take life on Tuesday in Little Bay after it was first snapped by The Daily Telegraph on Sunday as a series of canopies with snakes slithering around.
By this morning, security guards had surrounded the set including in boats as buses of extras arrived at The Coast Golf Club.
Just after sunrise, Thor: Love And Thunder director and Academy Award winner Taika Waititi was seen supervising a set which shows there may be a part two to Loki’s play that was featured in Thor Ragnarok – also directed by Waititi.
The set resembles the amphitheatre where Chris Hemsworth’s older brother, Luke, depicted Thor in a theatre cosplay while the film’s villain Loki was played by Matt Damon.
It was a tongue-in-cheek performance within the movie which poked fun at Chris’ character Thor and Tom Hiddleston’s character Loki.
Two actors who appeared to be Luke Hemsworth and Damon in their respective Thor and Loki costumes were seen walking to set shielded by a Bunnings umbrella on Tuesday morning.
Thor: Love And Thunder was originally slated to be shot at Moore Park’s Fox Studios. However sets have sprung up in Centennial Park and now Little Bay. Other exclusive images show a replica marble staircase.
The Coast Golf Club has cancelled all tee-off times until Saturday to allow the filming to proceed.
Thor: Love and Thunder is also set to star Christian Bale, Chris Pratt and Tessa Thompson.
The decision to shoot in NSW is a huge coup for the local industry, which has become a hub for productions with Hollywood shut down due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
It comes after Nicole Kidman and Melissa McCarthy shot US TV series Nine Perfect Strangers in Byron Bay and a raft of other movies have been based here, including Rose Byrne comedy Seriously Red.
