A few unwanted cast members have been spotted near the Sydney set of the latest Thor blockbuster starring Chris Hemsworth.

Thor: Love And Thunder is being directed by New Zealand’s Taika Waititi, who also shot the 2017 film Thor: Ragnarok.

A new set has been erected at Little Bay with a Daily Telegraph photographer making the wild discovery of a red-bellied black snake on Sunday.

Photographer Damien Shaw had been taking pictures of the new set before deciding on finding a new location. He walked through the grass before something black darted out of the bushes.

“It slithered right towards me, I managed to jump back. I was on the phone to one of the photo editors at the time he told me to take a photograph,” he said.

“I backed off a bit and took some photos of the snake. I could see it was a red-bellied black snake.

“Once I got some photos I started walking off. I saw a couple with a baby about the snake and they said they were quite common and started filming it.”

If Thor and a red-bellied snake were to battle it out, who would win?

With superpowers like speed, strength and durability, Thor “The God of Thunder” seems like an obvious pick however the hidden power of the venomous snake is not to be underestimated.

While Thor’s toughness is mostly external, the red-bellied snake’s strength is internal.

With the help of a secret weapon, the Mjolnir hammer, Thor can emit mystical blasts of energy that cause destruction and also drain life force from villains.

Meanwhile the glossy black snake, though tiny by comparison, contains an average of 37 mg of venom, enough to cause serious illness in its prey.

Sydney snake catcher Rob Ambrose said they were the most common snake for that part of Sydney.

He added that they were typically not very vicious.

“They’re quite active at the moment but as winter approaches they become less and less,” he said.

“I’ve caught hundreds of them and they are very timid. Almost embarrassingly timid. There’s no great advice if you see one just stay a safe distance away and if they’re right at your feet stay still.”

The movie, which is the fourth Thor movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has brought a star-studded cast to Australia, including Matt Damon and Natalie Portman.
