There were three people noticeably absent from TV personality Sophie Monk and Joshua Gross’s recent intimate nuptials and engagement party.
Her parents, mother Sandi and father Andrew, as well as her sister Lucy weren’t at the ceremony or engagement party, which was covered exclusively by Stellar earlier this month.
It appears the foursome are still unable to repair their relationship, which broke down a few years ago.
The initial fallout happened not long after Monk met Gross and during the time the couple moved in together after meeting in 2018.
Tension between the family resulted in Monk’s parents moving out of the Coomera River home they had shared with their eldest daughter for four years after selling their Gold Coast home in 2016.
Andrew, who used to feature heavily on his daughter’s social media sites, and Sandi are believed to be on speaking terms with Monk, however the relationship is still significantly strained.
Monk and her sister Lucy are believed to have partly repaired their relationship, however not enough to have been involved with her sibling’s wedding.
“There are two legitimate sides to this story,” one source close to the couple said.
Confidential approached Monk and Gross for comment, however they did not respond.
Monk told Stella magazine earlier this month why they chose to elope rather than having a big wedding with friends and extended family.
“I’m 42, so I feel like they’re like, OK, do it your way,” Monk said.
“We figured, if you don’t invite one person, then no one could get upset.
“We know everyone will be happy for us if it’s just the two of us.
“And then everyone doesn’t have to buy another present, so I think secretly other people will be happy we’re doing it this way.”
