Ever wondered what Sydney’s fiercest radio rivals have to say to one another off the air?
Confidential can reveal what KIISFM shock jock Kyle Sandilands texted 2GB’s Ben Fordham after he was bested in the latest radio ratings this week.
“Congrats to you mate … you ****,” Sandilands texted Fordham on Tuesday morning, after the fourth of eight GfK ratings surveys for 2023 was released.
For the past two consecutive surveys, Kyle and Jackie ‘O’ have topped the ratings, toppling 2GB from number one for the first time in 18 years in March.
Fordham reclaimed the King of breakfast title this week with an 18.1 per cent audience share in the most recent survey, while KIIS 106.5 came in a close second on an 17.1 per cent audience share.
“I’m still holding out hope that you hit a 20 so we see you play with your little fella on air,” Fordham replied. “And I’m not talking about Otto.”
Sandilands, 52, saw the highest figures of his three-decade career in June (a 17.9 per cent audience share), with hype around his star-studded wedding to Tegan Kynaston reeling in listeners.
In a grubby on-air celebration, he vowed to masturbate on the air if that reached 20 per cent and also attributed the result to co-host Henderson’s “totally rootable” recent weight loss.
“I have gone from a half chub to a full mongrel, just so you know, and that is how you know you’ve done well — when you are sitting at work with a massive hard-on, it doesn’t get much better than that. It is pressed against these tight jeans.”
Egged on by his studio team to “get your c*** out”, Sandilands then said: “I am not here to gloat. I am not getting my c*** out at work, come on man. If we pull a 20 (per cent) share, I will jerk it off live on air.”
Although you might expect the breakfast radio rivalry to continue off the air, Sandilands’ response to Fordham’s joke was: “Hahahaha brilliant.”
Last celebrity wedding of the season in Europe
Victoria’s Secret model Bridget Malcolm has served as celebrant at her best friend, Billy Mitchell’s wedding.
Malcolm presided over the luxury brand publicist’s nuptials with Sydney skincare entrepreneur Michael Porter at Lake Como in Italy – the latest celebrity filled wedding over the European summer.
Porter wore custom Tom Ford while Mitchell opted for custom Giorgio Armani, the fashion house he represents.
The couple opted for a lavish affair on Italy’s Dosso d’Avedo Peninsula with welcome drinks overlooking Lake Como the night before the wedding, which took place overnight at the famous Villa Del Balbianello.
The venue is known for its elaborate gardens, featuring in films including James Bond Casino Royale and Star Wars. Their “aisle song” was from the opera, Carmen.
Guests included bikini influencer Tash Oakley and new husband Theo Chambers, the pair having just married a week ago in Capri.
Also there are Nadia Fairfax, stylists Caroline Tran and Elliott Garnaut, Venroy label owner Sean Venturi, Aje designer Adrian Norris and Byron Bay designer Olive Cooke.
Married At First Sight reality star Martha Kalifatidis is there, as is Dany Sanby, a former The Bachelor contestant.
Malcolm holds a Doctorate of Divinity and is long-time friends with Mitchell, the pair having grown up in Perth. Porter is the co-founder of skincare brand, Skin Control.
The next big European summer wedding is that of Katie Ingham, the youngest in the Ingham chook empire, who will marry blogger Ali Rosenberg in Tuscany.
Doran’s bizarre Facebook fire sale after going AWOL from Sunrise
Channel 7 Weekend Sunrise host Matt Doran has been listing expensive artworks and designer furniture for a “quick” and “regretful sale” on a Bondi locals Facebook group.
The TV journalist, who reportedly earns an annual salary of up to one million dollars, has listed up to five different items, including a Vicki Lee perspex artwork for $11,500 and a set of 1960s vinyl armchairs going for $1100.
The items were listed on both Facebook Marketplace and a community group page called “Bondi Local Loop”, with Doran writing in the caption of one listing that he’s parting with the possessions because he’s moving out of his Bellevue Hill home.
Doran listed his Bellevue Hill apartment, where he lives with his wife, Weekend Today executive product Kendall Bora, for sale in May and it sold within days for at least $2 million.
In a bid to sell some items as quickly as possible, some of the luxury homewares have been substantially discounted.
Doran listed a black concrete Coco Republic Pot for $1000 less than its original purchasing price.
This comes after Doran was absent from Seven’s weekend morning show for one week after he went AWOL while working in the field from the Hunter Valley bus tragedy.
Seven later said Doran, who has a history of erratic behaviour, had taken personal leave and gone home to “(prioritise) his health”.
After Doran went missing it was reported that police found a man in a cafe matching his description “slumped in a corner”, after issuing a Geotrack to locate him.
