Kyle Sandilands’ creepy rant as he and Jackie ‘O’ romp to their highest-ever radio ratings

Kyle Sandilands has vowed to masturbate live on air if his breakfast radio show reaches a 20 per cent audience share.
It came after he and sidekick and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson scored their highest ever radio ratings figure in their careers spanning more than three decades in the latest ratings survey.
With Sandilands wedding contributing to the hype around their KIIS breakfast show, the duo shot to an extraordinary 17.9 per cent audience share for the all-important timeslot in the third of eight GfK ratings surveys for 2023.
That represented a jump of 2.8 percentage points and saw the pair well ahead of nearest rival,
Ben Fordham on 2GB with a 15 per cent audience share (up 0.3).
“I have got a hard on saying this. More listeners than ever before, it is almost like herpes,” Sandilands said as he greeted the news on air.
“Herpes goes around the community, everyone has got the herps, welcome to the club, we are all the Herpe club here.”
The rant got grubbier: “I have gone from a half chub to a full mongrel, just so you know, and that is how you know you’ve done well — when you are sitting at work with a massive hard-on, it doesn’t get much better than that. It is pressed against these tight jeans.”
Egged on by his studio team to “get your c*** out”, Sandilands then said: “I am not here to gloat. I am not getting my c*** out at work, come on man. If we pull a 20 (per cent) share, I will jerk it off live on air.”
Sandilands, 51, then congratulated his staff and “everyone that listens” before singling out co-host Henderson for her recent weight loss.
“And I feel that more people are listening because Jackie has lost all that fat, and she is like totally rootable again and that has brought all the fringe people that thought, ‘oh I wouldn’t bang that, I’ll go and listen to Nova’, and then they’ve thought, well they are unrootable, and they’ve come back,” he said.
“Jackie is hot. I thank you for losing all that blubber and assisting the ratings to spike again.”
Henderson recently revealed she had lost 12kg through weight loss program, WW.
“I did it for the team guys,” she said.
Of rival stations scoring lower ratings, Sandilands said: “I would be so disappointed if I worked at another station, they are just left behind. Some people listen but not many, if any. They might as well just go home, I really don’t understand how you could keep the doors open. In all honesty, it is sad. It is pathetic.”
FORDHAM SLIPS
It is a phenomenal result for Kyle and Jackie O.
From the first survey this year, GfK started providing accumulative and average audience figures in its initial survey results release.
That provides a deeper look at total audience numbers and average audience, which is used by advertising agencies.
For breakfast this means Kyle and Jackie O this survey has drawn a total audience of 921,000 listeners from 5.30am to 9am compared to Ben Fordham on 2GB with 496,000.
Traditionally on the AM dial, shares are higher as listeners generally tune in for longer.
GfK this survey has introduced the inclusion of streaming numbers too.
Kyle and Jackie O’s streaming numbers sit at 13 per cent of the market, compared to Fordham at 30.4 per cent.
That equates to a streaming audience of 93,000 for Fordham and 110,000 for Kyle and Jackie O.
The important distinction is that the AM audience listens for longer, hence the higher percentage number there.
“These are extraordinary streaming numbers, and prove the draw of live and local content is heightened even more in a digital environment,” 2GB’s Greg Byrnes said.
“The strength in listening via mobile and web is unprecedented.”
Across all stations, KIIS is the number one station in Sydney yet again with a 13 per cent share, an increase of 1.5 percentage points. 2GB has an overall share of 12.2 per cent (up 0.4) with smoothfm next with a share of 10.8 per cent (up 1.1).
Drilling down on audience numbers for all stations, the figures represent 742,000 listeners for 2GB and 1.418 million for KIIS and 1.278 million for smoothfm. Streaming, 173,000 listen to 2GB compared to 312,000 on KIIS and 238,000 on smoothfm, which represents a percentage share of 21.2 per cent, 11 per cent and 9.0 per cent respectively.
In mornings, Ray Hadley remains the market leader with a share of 15.5 per cent of the market, a jump of 1.2 percentage points.
KIIS follows at 13.8 per cent (up 2.7) while smoothfm sits at 12 per cent (up 1.9).
In audience numbers, that equates to 307,000 for 2GB, 568,000 for KIIS and 464,000 for smoothfm. Streaming numbers in mornings come in at 53,000 for 2GB, a 23.7 per cent share, 107,000 on KIIS, at 14.5 per cent, and 63,000 for smoothfm, at 10.3 per cent.
