IN A bitchy tale of two cities, a bitter war of words has erupted between the cast of The Real Housewives Of Melbourne and the Foxtel hit’s Sydney spin-off.
Just hours after The Real Housewives Of Sydney cast was unveiled on Friday, Melbourne cast member Gamble Breaux launched an online tirade against newcomer to the reality TV format, Lisa Oldfield.
The 43-year-old lashed Oldfield on Facebook as an “Anne Winters wannabe” — presumably likening Oldfield to Vogue editor Anna Wintour because of their similar hairstyles — before adding “Good luck riding off our ratings you stupid old cow.
“Blood sucking ticks like you wouldn’t survive in Melbourne. I have a better looking mop at home that I clean my floors with!”
Breaux’s bizarre rant came after Oldfield was filmed joking about the rivalry between Sydney and Melbourne at the Foxtel series’ launch.
Oldfield, who is married to One Nation co-founder David Oldfield, said: “I wouldn’t compare myself to any of those girls,” obviously having fun for the cameras. “The benchmark is so low. The best thing that came out of Melbourne is probably Underbelly so really we are starting very low. ”
In response to being called a “stupid old cow”, Oldfield fired back online with some choice comments.
OPINION: ‘GUTLESS’ IOC FAILS WHEN IT MATTERS MOST
Breaux, who is married to eye surgeon Rick Wolfe, also claimed to be more famous than Oldfield, saying she’d “never heard” about her.
To this, Oldfield told The Daily Telegraph: “I’m not surprised she hasn’t heard of me. I made my name in the boardroom, she made hers in the bedroom.”
She added: “This is just a desperate grab to remain relevant. It is reality TV, we are not saving lives. My original comments were to create a bit of drama in good fun. I love Melbourne. I was playing on the whole Sydney-Melbourne rivalry.”
Joining Oldfield in the Sydney Housewives cast are Melissa Tkautz, Matty Samaei, Nicole O’Neil, Victoria Rees, Krissy Marsh and Athena Levendi. The series is set to air on Foxtel next year.
