NEW reality show Real Housewives of Sydney is heading to the northern beaches.
Two of the show’s seven stars hail from the peninsula and will start filming in September
Lisa Oldfield, former TV presenter and wife of former One Nation politician David Oldfield, and Melissa Tkautz, former actor and pop star have both signed up for the show, which follows Real Housewives Of Melbourne.
The series will air on Foxtel next year.
Oldfield, who lives in Belrose and famously had liposuction last year, said she’s keen to show-off the area in the show.
The 41-year-old mum of Henry, five and Bert, four, who had a TV show The Catch-Up but now works for a software firm, said: “I was really worried it was going to be very eastern suburbs- centric, but the northern beaches is a spectacular part of Sydney, so it’s great that Mel and I can show it off.”
Oldfield’s husband David has hit the headlines again this week after One Nation politician Pauline Hanson talked about the night she claimed they spent together.
But she said she doesn’t care about the extra scrutiny her becoming a Housewife is likely to bring.
“It’s water off a duck’s back- if people aren’t talking about us we’re not doing our job. He’s excited about it too.”
Meanwhile, Frenchs Forest-based Tkautz, 42, has two children Ayla, six and Cuba, three, said husband Kwesi who works in Finance, needed more persuasion
“This isn’t his world, but he has faith in me. I’m going to explain to my six year old ... you just hope they don’t get bullied,” she said.
“Obviously I’ve done everything but I have’t done reality TV.
“I thought why not? I’ve been at home with babies for the last six years. I’m a huge fan of the show.”
While the pair joked they’d likely be hanging out at Glenrose Shopping Centre where they both shop, Lisa said her dad’s boat and the Hawkesbury River would likely feature.
The seven housewives- most of who didn’t know each other before auditioning- were pally at the media launch- but Tkautz admitted it was likely to get bitchy.
“Of course it is, otherwise you won’t tune in,” she said.
