A DISPUTE between former Today show weatherman Steve Jacobs and his estranged wife Rosie came to the attention of police in Sydney’s eastern suburbs about two years ago, The Daily Telegraph can reveal.
The sign trouble has been brewing in the marriage for several years emerged as it was confirmed Mrs Jacobs recently sought a restraining order against her ex-husband in Vanuatu, where the pair have lived for more than a year.
Steve Jacobs has never been charged with any offence, nor was an application for an AVO sought in Sydney.
The Telegraph revealed at the weekend the couple had separated last year after 11 years together, seven of those married.
They have two daughters Isabella, 6, and Francesca, 4, and made a sea-change move to Vanuatu to escape the stresses of living in Sydney.
Vanuatu Police applied for the “restraining ex parte temporary domestic protection order” at Port Vila Magistrates Court on January 21 after Mrs Jacobs made a statement to authorities following an incident.
The order, which has since expired, stipulated Mr Jacobs must keep at least 100 metres away from his wife at all times.
Rosie Jacobs, a former TV presenter, has not sought to extend the order.
According to a mutual friend in Port Vila, Mrs Jacobs was given custody of the children but allowed the former TV personality access.
Steve Jacobs was unavailable for comment.
Rosie Jacobs has begun a new relationship with Canadian commando Dylan Nash, which became public this week.
It is understood she met Nash, a 32-year-old former Royal Marine based in New Zealand, through friends in Vanuatu.
Vanuatu ex parte domestic violence protection laws state that “a respondent be restrained from further acts of physical assault and threatening, using language or otherwise to show any acts of violence towards the applicant directly or indirectly.”
Friends say they expected the breakup of the couple to be difficult.
“Over the years we have seen Rosie change from her usual happy, outgoing, creative self to someone (who did not) see her friends anymore, even for a coffee or a walk,” one said.
But in a column last year about her new life she wrote: “My husband is seeing the old me that he first fell in love with.”
