The Voice Australia is set for a major shake-up in 2024 – Guy Sebastian is the last coach standing.
Rita Ora is out. Jessica Mauboy is out. Jason Derulo is out.
The Daily Telegraph can reveal Seven is recruiting a new crew of coaches for the famous red judging chairs on the juggernaut program that is one of the highest rating on the network’s slate each year.
Production is set to get underway as soon as March, at which time Mauboy is starting her Yours Forever Tour, that will run through until early May.
Ora, meanwhile, will be filming the American version of The Masked Singer after joining the judging panel there, while Derulo is touring Europe from March through to June.
Seven would not comment when contacted, although it is understood negotiations are well underway with new coaches.
An interesting batch of names are in the mix to replace the trio.
Adam Lambert, who will be in the country from March and will perform at the 2024 Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Party, is on the list.
He is a huge star internationally, having been runner-up in American Idol back in 2009 and gone on to tour the world with Queen’s Roger Taylor and Brian May.
It is understood American singer and actor LeAnn Rimes is also on board.
Rimes’ biggest hits globally have been Can’t Fight The Moonlight, from 2000 film Coyote Ugly, and How Do I Live.
Respected, classically-trained Aussie pop singer-songwriter Kate Miller-Heidke is believed to be replacing Mauboy.
Miller-Heidke represented Australia at the 2019 Eurovision in Tel Aviv, Israel, and has performed at the prestigious Coachella music festival.
She once famously released a song titled Australian Idol, in which she questioned reality TV singing shows. Australian Idol also screens on Seven.
Lyrics to the song read: “Why am I watching Australian Idol? (God!)
“Am I really reduced to this pitiful state? Jesus!; I may as well just head down to my local karaoke bar; Or better still just change to SBS. You better believe it – I changed to SBS; So Marcia, Dicko, whatever your name is …; Shove it up your ass!”
It is the latest incarnation of coaches for the show that first aired here in 2012.
Others to have sat in the red chairs over the years include Keith Urban, Boy George, Joe Jonas, Kelly Rowland, Benji Madden, Ronan Keating, will.i.am, Seal, Ricky Martin, Kylie Minogue and Jessie J.
Sebastian has been a coach on the show for five seasons, having joined the format in 2019.
