THE fight is real for Kelly Rowland.
As reality singing show The Voice gears up for the live rounds, the US superstar says tensions among coaches have been so bad at times, some have had to take breaks from filming. Rowland said she has had several heated exchanges with Boy George.
“He is an icon and I respect him for that and ... I am (an icon) too,” Rowland told The Daily Telegraph.
“Sometimes we call each other out and there ain’t nothing wrong with that. It does get tense ... to the point where sometimes one might have to leave the stage, to where we just have to take a breather. We are all taking it very seriously and are passionate about why we are here, to find great talent.”
The competitiveness has made this seventh series another TV ratings winner for Channel 9.
“If we agreed all the time, it would be quite boring to watch,” Rowland said.
Rowland, who recently sang at the Coachella festival in a reunion with Destiny’s Child band mates Beyoncé Knowles and Michelle Williams, and revealed the trio didn’t rehearse as much as they could have.
“But it was still tight,” she said. “It was still tight as if we did it yesterday.”
