HAVING made her wish to become a mum clear, a vasectomy wasn’t about to stop Sophie Monk from following her heart.
The former reality show singer turned TV and radio star chose publican Stu Laundy in The Bachelorette finale last night, declaring they are now looking at options to have children together.
“I would love to (have kids with Laundy),” Monk told The Daily Telegraph.
Laundy, who has four daughters with ex-partner, Rachel, had a vasectomy some years ago but revealed he had sperm frozen.
“It can be reversed but before you have an operation like that, you can plan ahead if you’re half smart and I did,” Laundy said. “I can have as many kids as I want regardless of how successful the reverse is. I would love to have more kids. To be honest, I think kids make the world go round.”
Monk, 37, chose Laundy over vineyard manager Jarrod Woodgate after narrowing the pair down from 22 men vying for her affection on the Channel 10 reality show.

It was attraction at first sight when Laundy, 44, entered the series as an intruder part way through. “I knew the chemistry was there straight away but at the same time I wanted to go with my head rather than my heart — I just couldn’t help it at the end,” Monk said.
With the show filmed months in advance, Monk and Laundy have mostly kept in contact via phone — he had the pseudonym “Uncle Dave” in her phone to protect his identity — since production wrapped.
Monk has a home on the Gold Coast while Laundy lives in Sydney, so the pair will split their time between the two cities. Moving in together is on the cards, although they say they are simply looking forward to spending time together now the finale has aired.
“A base on the Gold Coast and a base in Sydney doesn’t seem that unrealistic,” Laundy said. “I have children though and I will always be around my kids. We are both mobile.”
Monk added: “I am never home, I am always in Sydney. It doesn’t worry me where I am. We will figure it out. It will be fun just to do normal things like go to the supermarket together.”
