A man has been banned from a Sydney pub for groping TV presenter Erin Molan.
A Saturday afternoon at The Buena in Mosman turned ugly when a man grabbed Molan on her bottom.
The popular Sky News presenter’s partner Todd Selby was nearby and stepped in to call the man out on the behaviour.
The venue security promptly escorted the man off the premises and told him he wasn’t welcome back for six months.
“It was really inappropriate,” an onlooker told The Daily Telegraph.
“This stuff happens way too often. I’m glad the staff and some of the regulars stepped in so quickly and kicked him out.”
Ms Molan was in the sports bar part of the venue watching the AFL Grand Final between Collingwood and the Brisbane Lions in the early evening when the incident occurred.
The Buena is a large gastro corner pub on Middlehead Rd that opens from noon until midnight, serving up comfort food and craft beer.
General Manger of The Buena Mitch Wood said his venue has a zero-tolerance policy for sexual harassment.
“We were very concerned upon learning of the incident, and acted swiftly as soon as we became aware of what happened, barring the individual from the premises for six months,” he said.
“This is obviously a very unusual incident for us here at the Buena, and the welfare of our customers and staff is always of the utmost importance. We have stringent policies in place with regards to sexual harassment, and these are aimed to ensure all patrons and staff feel safe and welcome in all our venues.”
The lower north shore landmark, which houses Bistro Moncur Mosman, Buena Bar and Vista Bar, was purchased by the three Fallon brothers and in 2015 for a rumoured $16 million.
The 40-year-old single mum confirmed she had met someone special last year, after revealing she was back on the dating following her break-up with fiance Sean Ogilvy in September 2021.
Speaking on the Hughesy, Ed and Erin radio show in May 2022, Molan divulged she was happy with her new man, but that dating with a child is “complex”.
The 2Day FM radio host described her meeting with Selby as “fate”.
“I was driving into the carpark, he was driving out. That’s the first time we saw each other but we didn’t meet until a couple of months after that,” she said. “I’m not a believer in fate... but the timing of it was pretty incredible. We locked eyes and I felt something.”
“It’s lovely when you meet someone who makes you feel like you’re worthy and like you’re special and like you’re important. It’s a lovely thing and I’m very lucky.”
