Australia’s first NFT membership-only bar has opened in Circular Quay.
Modelled off venues in America, CryptoLulu is a private club where access is purchased on the blockchain as a Non-Fungible Token.
Like the prestigious Soho House in London, where Prince Harry met Meghan Markle, the public will be able to enter Bar Lulu, however only those who purchase a token on the blockchain will gain access to the membership club.
Depending on the token tier purchased, members will get access to networking events, private lounges, dinners at their sister venue Luna Lu, beverages as well as views of Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House. The top tier membership is valued at $5000.
Natalie Hughes from CryptoLulu said the club provides the best of both the technology and physical world.
“Not only does CryptoLulu deliver a luxurious ambience with the most prestigious modern
Asian fusion cuisine with cocktails inspired by the unique flavours of East Asia, but also a groundbreaking membership and rewards program,” she said.
“It incorporates the physical and virtual world in a way that the Australian public has never experienced before and will surely raise the bar on the exclusive club membership experience,” she said.
Mark Monfort, who is a blockchain expert and worked on the technology for the bar, adds that despite the negative recent press, crypto currency is not going anywhere.
“The things that have happened in crypto are not because the technology is bad, rather the bad people behind it,” he said.
“Now is a good time to step into this space because the guardrails are being put up with government regulation.”
Sydney’s bar membership community continues to grow with news that Soho House itself will open its first Australian outpost in Darlinghurst this year.
