Jackie ‘O’ Henderson has sparked rumours of a new romance after being spotted taking a dip at Clovelly with a handsome male companion at the weekend.
But the popular KIIS FM breakfast co-host told Confidential she is “just friends” with Maroubra’s Daniel Cartwright.
Henderson is one of the country’s most eligible bachelorettes, looking her best ever after a dramatic weight loss and healthy living makeover in which she cut out alcohol and increased exercise.
The 49-year-old has a daughter named Kitty from her previous marriage to photographer Lee Henderson.
Cartwright and Henderson are simply neighbours, living in the same suburb and having met through friends. “There is nothing more than friendship,” said a friend. “It is purely platonic.”
The pair enjoyed their swim just a few hours before Henderson’s junior staffer Joshua Fox was caught up in a fracas with Hollywood star Jacob Elordi at the Clovelly Hotel on Saturday afternoon.
On air on Monday, Fox told Henderson and co-host Kyle Sandilands the incident occurred after a failed prank that referenced Elordi’s flick, Saltburn.
Elordi had spent Saturday afternoon at the venue and Fox said he was waiting for colleague “Intern Pete” outside the pub, where the pair had planned to create a video of the actor as he left.
“I wait outside ‘til he leaves, that’s what paparazzi would do. In England I did that job,” Fox said on the top rating radio program. “I wait out there, I’m stressing like ‘where’s Pete, where Pete?’.
“And then Jacob walks out and I’m like ‘shit I’m going to have to have this moment’.”
Nicole Kidman home to shoot new movie
Nicole Kidman will return home to star in new Aussie film Mice.
Based on the debut novel from Gordon Reece, the production company behind hit television series Nine Perfect Strangers and Big Little Lies are backing the movie.
Produced by Steve Hutensky, Bruna Papandrea and Jodi Masterson from Made Up Stories, acclaimed director Justin Kurzel is on board as well. Made Up Stories is partnering with Kurzel’s company, Thirdborn. Shaun Grant is writing the script.
Mice is a psychological thriller set around the characters of Shelley and her mother. They are pushed to their limits as they confront their moral convictions and the line between right and wrong in the face of bullying, violence and fear.
The production was announced in January.
“We would film it in Australia, yeah,” Hutensky told Confidential, Papandrea adding: “It is very early stages but it is based on a wonderful book by an Australian novelist named Gordon Reece. It is wonderful.”
Hutensky said Kurzel was an “amazing director”.
Kurzel is previously known for his films including breakthrough effort, Snowtown, followed by Macbeth, Nitram, True History Of The Kelly Gang and The Turning.
Of the project, Masterson said: “We’ve been looking for something to do with Shaun (Grant) and Justin (Kurzel) for a really long time and this is just the perfect material. It is just going to be an incredible, incredible film.”
Made Up Stories has backed some of the biggest productions to come out of Australia over recent years and were instrumental in helping keep the local industry going through Covid.
They produced Eric Bana’s Force of Nature: The Dry 2, now in cinemas.
“Some are like lightning rods, they are very fast,” Papandrea said of getting a project off the ground.
Kate jokes she doesn’t know her fellow judges
Kate Miller-Heidke – you legend.
The Aussie pop singer has given us a taste of the witty banter she might show as a new coach on The Voice Australia.
A week after Confidential first suggested a shake-up to the reality singing show panel, The Voice Australia announced Miller-Heidke to join the show alongside Adam Lambert and LeAnn Rimes. They replace Rita Ora, Jessica Mauboy and Jason Derulo in the big red chairs. Guy Sebastian is the only returning coach. Channel 7 made the announcement officially on Sunrise.
One Instagram user noted: “I don’t know half these people”.
Clearly having some fun, Miller-Heidke responded: “Me either!”
The response was met with applause and laughter.
Another user asked: “Who are the 2 blondes?” in reference to Miller-Heidke and Rimes. Again, Miller-Heidke responded: “The Veronicas”.
The Veronicas, for the record, are chart-topping brunette twins.
Production on the new season is scheduled to begin this month.
Miller-Heidke represented Australia at the 2019 Eurovision.
Mystery of art’s desire
Artist and socialite Dina Broadhurst has explained why she thinks people are interested in her “love life”.
Speaking ahead of a special Valentine’s Day event at Prim Haus in St Peters, Broadhurst addressed the fact paparazzi regularly snap her out in Bondi with much speculation about who she is dating.
“My art is about imagination and desire and it is very provocative so it makes a lot of sense that people would be interested in that part of my life as well,” Broadhurst told Confidential, adding of her art: “It is about love and mystery, desire and emotions. It is about expressing yourself, passion, relationships.”
Her inspiration as an artist, she said, came from “personal experience”.
Broadhurst will attend The World Is Your Oyster event on February 14 with some previously unreleased artworks featuring.
It is part of a new supper club series from Sarsha Simone and Georgina Solomon. Simone said Sydney’s west was often overlooked for the CBD and eastern suburbs.
“Everyone that has been here feels like it is a south London creative precinct,” Simone said.
Meet the woman keeping Sydney’s biggest secrets
There aren’t many secrets on the Sydney social and celebrity scene Tiffany Farrington is not across.
Many, she will never share. Discretion is crucial in her line of work.
This year notching up two decades running industry bible, Social Diary, and 15 years as Curtis Stone’s publicist, Farrington has worked with some of the biggest names in the business.
Farrington welcomed Oprah Winfrey to Australia on Whitehaven Beach, and was backstage when Hugh Jackman was injured on his flying fox entrance at the Opera House in 2010 and when Naomi Campbell threw a tantrum at the Australian Hair Awards in 1999.
She knows who is in town and when and keeps party organisers and publicist on top of what events are on so there are no clashes.
“I have to be a vault,” Farrington told Confidential.
It takes a lot to shock her – she has seen it all.
“Someone asked me once what I did for a living and I answered that I keep secrets,” she said. “It is true though because I hear a lot and people tell me secrets I would never repeat because I keep the industry close to my chest.”
Social Diary is a member-based online portal with daily email newsletters. She has been known for putting on some of Sydney’s most fabulous parties with Social Diary hosting an annual ‘fancy dress’ birthday event.
“I have seen a lot, let’s just say that,” she laughed. “Absolutely nothing shocks me.”
Farrington said the PR industry is full of “clever, creative people with their finger on the pulse”.
The rise of ‘influencers’ has been the biggest change Farrington has seen over the 20 years.
“First it was bloggers, and that morphed into influencers and content creators,” she said.
“Everybody wants to be an influencer these days but the cream rises to the top to become the best in each category. Sometimes people get so dazzled by how many followers someone has as opposed to the engagement they have with their audience.”
Farrington is married to Richie Buttrose, nephew of media identity Ita Buttrose.
