SUPERSTAR singer Kelly Rowlandhas quickly become the most popular coach on The Voice and her artist Gemma Lyonbelieves it’s not hard to see why.
“With Kelly, what you see is what you get. She’s exactly how she comes across on TV,” says Lyon, who goes head-to-head with Fasika Ayallew in tonight’s battle round of the show, which has been a ratings winner for Channel 9.
“She’s genuine and down to earth.”
The only thing Rowland keeps from her team members is discussions about her famous friend, and Destiny’s Child bandmate, Beyonce.
“She didn’t mention her name at all. Kelly is her own artist,” Ayallew said.
One celebrity name she did drop was Oscar-winner Jennifer Hudson.
The girls sing a Hudson song, Remember Me, for the battles and the US artist was sent videos of them rehearsing.
Contestants leave Rowland aghast
“The pressure was certainly on after that,” Ayallew said.
“Jen knew we were singing her song and we wanted to do it justice.”
Rowland returns to Australia and will join her fellow coaches to launch the live shows at a party at The Beresford on Wednesday night.
