Tal Davida is the first to admit she doesn’t look like a model.
But the Israeli-born stunner, who stands at just five feet, is smashing stereotypes and becoming a rising star in an industry known for favouring long legs.
“I don’t identify or call myself a model because I’m five foot,” Davida told The Daily Telegraph.
“You don’t look at me and think I’m a model because I’m so short. To be honest, I actually work more than many of my model girlfriends signed with the big agencies.”
The 26-year-old, who started modelling at the age of 12, has booked major campaigns with top brands that include Armani, YSL, Myer, Napoleon Perdis, Ksubi and Mentos, and has graced the pages of Elle magazine.
“I think it’s beautiful that I can give other girls who are short or maybe don’t fit the requirements some type of hope,” she said.
“Yes, I’m short, but I’m making it.”
Davida is also an actor, starring opposite Guy Sebastian in the Indian-Australian film Hindi Vindi and appearing in the Disney series Drug Lords: The Takedown.
But the road hasn’t always been easy for Davida, who has dyslexia and counts English as her third language.
“I have to work twice as hard,” she said.
“I definitely still struggle with some things when it comes to reading and writing.
“When I meet actors who are not dyslexic, they just pick up a script and know the scene straight away. I wish that could be me.
“It’s challenging but it shows that I care and I have to try, and really put the hard yards in.”
With both her modelling and acting calendar booked out for the rest of the year, Davida is embracing the hectic pace.
“When it rains, it pours,” she said.
