Australia’s top male model Jordan Barrett returns for Fashion Week

Jordan Barrett is the highest paid male model in the world rubbing shoulders with the likes of Kate Moss, who he considers a mentor. Now, he’ll be back home for the new-look Australian Fashion Week.

One of Australia’s most successful models will return to Sydney for Fashion Week.

In town for the first time in two years, Jordan Barrett said he intended to take part in the new-look AFC Australian Fashion Week at Carriageworks next month.

He will, however, be in France for the Cannes Film Festival beforehand.

“I have said yes to a couple of things that I am very excited about,” Barrett, who is based between Europe and the US, told The Daily Telegraph.

“I will be back for Fashion Week. It is just about what I will be doing and what dates. It might be in and out going back and forward.”

Barrett, 28, is one of the top male models globally and arguably sits alongside the likes of Miranda Kerr and Elle Macpherson among our biggest champions on the international modelling scene.

He is the highest-paid male model in history and has worked with major fashion houses, and fronted huge campaigns from Tom Ford to Versace.

Barrett has also appeared on the cover of British Vogue with Kate Moss and Cara Delevingne, both of whom have mentored him.

“Kate Moss has always been a mentor of mine,” he said.

“She understands me where a lot of other people maybe haven’t. She is not looking for me to chase different things. She wants to know what I want to do and she wants me to achieve my dreams and my goals in whatever I do, whether that is modelling, fashion, film or art.”

While known predominantly for his modelling work, acting is also a growing passion.

He has appeared in numerous short films and several video clips (Fergie, Kanye) and is locking down details for his first full-length feature film.

“I’ve always experimented with film and I’ve always wanted to move in that direction, not necessarily as the main focus but as something that I’ve wanted to pursue if and when the time was right,” he said.

“I’m grateful I’ve had the time to hone in on the craft and to feel comfortable on set because it is a lot.”

Barrett will be attending the world’s top film festival in Cannes from May 13, the same week as AFC Australian Fashion Week in Sydney.

He is also slated for a short film in Vienna after Cannes.

“Come September, I will be hopefully finished the feature film,” he smiled.
