He was widely reported to have relocated permanently to Sydney last week.
However, Confidential can reveal Hollywood heart-throb Zac Efron is still very much a Byron Bay boy, having settled into a new beachfront mansion in neighbouring Belongil with gal pal (and former Byron waitress) Vanessa Valladares.
It’s understood Efron is now residing in a stunning two-storey designer “shack” just a short drive from central Byron Bay, which he is renting from Mortgage Ezy founder and multi-millionaire Peter James.
The Greatest Showman Star was, however, in Sydney last week with Valladares, with the pair seen dining at Catalina in Rose Bay — a lunch date which doubled as a business meeting for Efron, who it is believed is in the Harbour City for work.

And it seems the continued migration to Byron Bay by celebrities and millionaires continues to impact on the local real estate industry with another mega-mansion setting a sales record last week.
A home at Wategos Beach, previously owned by recruitment millionaire Geoff Morgan, was snapped up by a Sydney buyer, who purchased the property on spec after a brief Facetime viewing and didn’t even bother to make the trip north to inspect the property in person.
The buyer reportedly paid $22m for the house — which is $2m more than Avengers star Chris Hemsworth paid for his pad back in 2015.
“It’s not just the top of the market that’s booming — it’s the middle and the bottom,” says local real estate guru Ed Silk, who has been selling homes in the area for 30 years.
“And it’s not just the guys from Sydney’s eastern suburbs and northern beaches — it’s everyone.
“They all want to get out of where they are living and move to Byron.”
Silk says the original first wave was triggered 30 years ago when Paul Hogan first plonked down for real estate in the town — putting Byron on the international map.
