FORMER escort Amanda Goff has opened up about the reason she split with Channel 7 television host Ryan Phelan, stating it had nothing to do with pressure from the network.

The mother of two, who is also known as Samantha X, sat down exclusively with Confidential yesterday to clear up persistent rumours surrounding the break-up and said that despite being “bruised” she is moving on with her life.

“What happens between two people is very private, but I will say that I felt very supported by Channel 7.

“There are some wonderful women who work in that corporation, for example Sarah Stinson is Ryan’s boss on The Morning Show and she was very supportive. We never felt any pressure from Seven,” she said.

She also said that going through the breakup in the public eye has been “mortifying”.

The 43-year-old added, “I felt like a failure. But if there is one thing that being Samantha taught me, it was not to care what anyone else thinks and that everyone goes through their own battles.”

Despite quitting the adult industry to give her relationship with Phelan “a chance”, the former magazine journalist confirmed she will not return to escorting.

“I have zero regrets about being Samantha. It was a fun, exciting experience. The relationship hasn’t worked out but I’m not going back to escorting.

“I believe one should move forward not backward in every aspect, whether it’s career or love,” she said, although she joked she does “miss the money”.

Instead, she said Samantha was “going from the bedroom to the boardroom”.

She’s returning to university to get a masters in counselling and psychology and has been asked to act as consultant for a women and children’s refuge in Perth.

“I understand I wrote a book coming out as Samantha, the escort. But there is so much more to me than my cleavage,” she said.

“I’m looking forward to Amanda coming back.”

Despite Phelan deleting every photograph of them together on her Instagram account, she also hasn’t given up on love.

“As an escort I was used to being desired but with Ryan, I learnt how to be loved. That’s what he taught me. And I thank him for that.”
