Matildas superstar Sam Kerr and her US girlfriend Kristie Mewis have been spotted getting snug sightseeing around Sydney a day after they went head-to-head in a soccer match.

Matildas superstar Sam Kerr and her American girlfriend Kristie Mewis have been spotted getting snug sightseeing around Sydney a day after the couple went head-to-head in a soccer match.

The 28-year-old Chelsea forward squared off against her girlfriend’s Team USA in Newcastle on Tuesday in the second of two international friendlies in Sydney.

Kerr, who is the only Australian nominated for a FIFA award, exchanged a tender moment with Mewis after a late equaliser from Australian striker Kyah Simon set up a 1-1 draw against the US.

The couple went public with their relationship in August after they were spotted in a similar embrace on the pitch following Team USA’s bronze medal victory against Australia at the Tokyo Olympics.

The pair were obvious competitors on the pitch last night but that wasn’t the case around Sydney on Wednesday, where the pair were seen gallivanting around Sydney enjoying the sunshine.

Kerr posted a snap on Instagram of Mewis enjoying the view at Crown Towers Barangaroo on Wednesday, hours after the pair climbed the Harbour Bridge.

Just months ago, Kerr separated from long-term partner Nikki Stanton after more than seven years together, saying the duo had “fallen out of love”.

The Sydney friendlies was the pair’s final camp before January’s Asian Cup tournament in India.
