After a year and a half of successfully hosting 2GB’s Money News, rumours are swirling that Deb Knight is making a move away from radio and back to TV.
The versatile journalist, who has worked in the media industry for three decades, is tipped to leave 2GB, where she is the host of Money News, to host the daytime news on Network Nine.
There is currently a number of Nine personalities being rotated as host of the daytime news segment for the network.
Knight was the first female on 2GB daytime, meaning after her departure there will be no woman featured on 2GB during the day in Sydney.
Neither Knight or Nine returned Sunday Confidential’s calls for comment on Saturday.
Knight was appointed host of Money News in November 2023, after being moved on from her role as host of the 2GB afternoon show.
Since she began hosting Money News, Knight has more than proved herself with the show achieving a strong 13.3 share during the Monday to Thursday 7pm-8pm timeslot in the latest radio ratings survey. This ranked her number one in the country for the timeslot, more than doubling her share in Queensland, where she is broadcast on Brisbane’s 4BC.
Money News also had a 0.6 increase in its share in the newest ratings, contributing to 2GB’s best result of the year in the ratings survey.
Knight thanked her listeners and EP Tom Storey following the win.
“Heartfelt thanks to Money News listeners! Another strong survey results around the country,” she wrote on social media.
“Huge shout out to my EP Tom Storey for pulling together the little show that could.”
