Australian billionaire Robert Whyte is engaged to a woman 43 years his junior.
Sunday Confidential can reveal the country’s 141st richest man popped the question to his fashion marketer girlfriend, Alessandra Eddy.
Apparently Whyte, 81, proposed to glamorous Eddy, 38, just days before Wednesday night’s Gold Dinner, but the pair kept it under wraps on the night.
Eddy, a Sydney social fixture and single mum, was front and centre at the Gold Dinner in her capacity as a committee member.
She posed alongside fellow committee members, including Joshua Penn, Linda Penn, James Auswild, Alina Barlow, Sophie Curtis, Katie Evans, Benita Kam, Bernadette Nassif, Kristy Nassif Elias, Kannon Rajah, Bryce Sceresini, Nicholas Smart and Monika Tu.
But she hid her engagement ring so as to not detract from the annual fundraiser.
As reported earlier by Sunday Confidential, Eddy recently moved into Whyte’s $30m Darling Point mansion.
But not everyone was happy about the relationship, with Eddy’s father, Paddington lawyer Nicholas Eddy, understood to be far from impressed by the move.
