Veteran broadcaster Ray Hadley has opened up about his “wonderful” wedding to Sophie Baird over the weekend.

The 2GB radio host revealed that it took his new wife some time to walk down the aisle due to a slight issue with her wedding gown.

“Well she was standing about 120 metres away, I could see her off into the distance,” Hadley said on-air this morning after taking Monday off.

“She didn’t start to move and then I found out later that her father David was standing on her dress so they had to untangle dad from the dress and I said to the crowd, ‘She could be having second thoughts here’.

“When she walked down … she took my breath away. She looked absolutely magnificent. Beautiful. As beautiful as she looked, she’s a more beautiful person. She’s a fantastic wife.”

Hadley’s wedding gift to Baird was a racehorse.

The couple tied the knot before family and friends at friend John Singleton’s restaurant Saddles in Mount White on Saturday.

Baird wore a white off-the-shoulder princess-style dress and she walked down the aisle to a rendition of When You Say Nothing At all by Keith Whitley, which Hadley, 66, said i from their “favourite” movie Notting Hill.

“Absolutely magnificent, just the best day,” he said.

“The sun shone, all the guests arrived on time by the buses, not a hitch … as perfect as you can get and everyone had a great time.”

The couple got engaged in 2019 but were forced to delay their big day three times due to COVID-19.
