Ray Hadley has revealed a surprise female guest will be in attendance at his intimate third wedding to Sophie Baird on Saturday.
The wedding will be held in front of a handful of family and friends at John Singleton’s restaurant Saddles on the Central Coast tomorrow afternoon.
The 2GB broadcast told his radio stablemate Ben Fordham on air this morning that the couple had invited a guest most people would not expect to see at the nuptials.
“Anne Marie, who I was married to and we had Dan and Laura and she’s the grandmother to our grandchildren, she’s coming to the wedding tomorrow at Sophie’s insistence.
“She wants her to be there with the kids and with the grandkids as it makes Dan and Laura happy, it makes me happy, it makes her happy.”
“The thing that she (Sophie) has done most of all, is cement my relationship with my children which is a strange thing that someone who is not the mother of those children can do what she’s done,” he said.
Hadley proposed to his personal assistant of 16 years in October 2019.
The couple has six adult children from three previous marriages – Daniel, 30, and Laura, 28, from Hadley’s first marriage with Anne Marie, Emma and Sarah from his second with Suzanne – and Nick, 21, and Jessie, 19, from Baird’s previous marriage.
2GB listeners gained an insight to their relationship this morning when Fordham targeted Hadley with a quiz – which he passed with flying colours.
When asked what Sophie would regard as his best feature, Hadley answered frankly, and correctly.
“Well I haven’t got a backside, so it wouldn’t be a chunky bum. Maybe my eyes,” he said.
Fordham relayed Sophie’s answer to the radio host: “I’m going to half pay it, she said ‘obviously not his bum. He has great legs and a smile that brightens my day’.”
