Radio host Ray Hadley is sizing up to appear in Men’s Health magazine after shedding nearly 20 kgs.

The 66-year-old 2GB mornings presenter has committed to a shoot with the fitness title thanks to a gentle push from fellow radio host Ben Fordham.

“It is all a bit of fun but if it encourages blokes my age to lose a bit of weight that’s not a bad thing,” Hadley told Confidential.

“Losing 19kg has seen my blood pressure come down, my belt size come down and wearing the same size clothes I wore 30 years ago.”

Hadley recently reached his goal weight of 95kg after several months of strict exercise and eating healthily – fish, chicken and salads.

His secret has been walking, starting with a stroll when he wakes up at 4.30am and finishing each day with up to 15km.

On Friday, breakfast host Ben Fordham declared on air that he had convinced Hadley to appear in the magazine, which has featured celebrity makeover covers including Guy Sebastian, Larry Emdur and Osher Gunsberg.

Fordham said he had provided the magazine with a list of requirements, including “top off and body oil”.

“The fact is sex sells and if Ray wants to be a cover boy, he’s going to have to get his gear off,” Fordham said when contacted by Confidential. “I certainly don’t want to see him naked but we could always cover up the danger zone with a microphone cover. He’s got the goods and he’s got a duty to share it with Australia. It’s only a matter of time until he sets up an OnlyFans page.”

Last month, Hadley said: “The older you get, you have to try to be a bit healthier, and that is what I have tried to do. I feel better and healthier than I have in a long time.”

Men’s Health editor Scott Henderson said Hadley was the perfect subject for a transformation story.

“While we’re hoping to persuade Ray to consider a shirtless photo shoot, we’re conscious not to push the limit with one of breakfast radio’s most respected broadcasters,” Henderson said. “There’s no questioning he’s made some incredible achievements over the past few months and we can’t wait to showcase the result — what true commitment to health looks like — in the coming months.”
