Model Rachael Finch reveals husband Michael Miziner’s Ukraine connection

Rachael Finch has revealed her husband Michael Miziner has been hard-hit by the crisis in his homeland of Ukraine.

Model Rachael Finch has revealed her husband Michael Miziner has family and friends in Ukraine as Russia’s military assault on the eastern European nation enters its fifth day.

Finch took to Instagram this week to share her hopes for a “peaceful outcome” and said Miziner, a Ukrainian-born Latin American dancer, is struggling to watch footage coming out of his home country.

“Such a heavy heart over the past few days watching and listening to events unfold in Ukraine,” she wrote.

“Devastating for the families being torn apart, children suffering, people losing their homes, their lives, and experiencing a fear like no other. I can’t even imagine what it must be like. Coming from Ukraine, @mikemiziner has many friends and some family in both Ukraine & Russia and it’s been hard for him to watch. However you find prayer or positivity, let’s all hope for a peaceful outcome very soon. Spread kindness everywhere you go.”

Miziner spent time in Russia when he was younger, where he underwent ballroom dance training.

He later moved to Australia, where he met the former Miss Universe Australia, 33, and the couple share two children Violet, eight, and five-year-old Dominic.

The couple met on the 10th season of Dancing With the Stars after being partnered together.

“When the show finished, Misha continued to teach me how to dance and our relationship strengthened,” she wrote in her 2016 book Happy Healthy Strong.

“Never in my dreams did I think I would end up marrying a Ukrainian ballroom dancer, but Misha proposed soon after the show and our wedding was the best day of my life.”
