Pumped to be performing live shows for the first time in more than two years, Guy Sebastian said “a piece of me has been missing’’ amid the pandemic which shut down a nation and its entertainers.
The Voice coach will hit the road for a run of arena shows from April for which he will criss-cross the country until the end of the year.
“I feel like a piece of me has been missing for two years,” Sebastian told The Daily Telegraph.
“It is just insane. It has been really strange.’’
It is an exciting time for Sebastian, whose last full live show was in Amsterdam in December 2019.
“I didn’t take it for granted but I never thought it would stop,” he said.
“I think it is the thing that gives you purpose. As a musician, there has been so much talk about the economic impact … the people that I speak to, they are not sitting there talking about money the whole time.
“Most musicians that I know ... talk more about just missing being able to perform ... that is where you are most alive … on the stage.”
The shows will start as headline Sebastian gigs with his T.R.U.T.H tour — rescheduled twice so far — finally kicking off in Newcastle on April 22.
Five shows are scheduled for Sydney’s ICC Aware Super Theatre into June.
After that, Sebastian will star in a series of one-night pop and soul music festivals called Higher Sounds that will see him headline alongside an impressive line-up of local artists.
