It is the stuff of fairytales – Sydney designer Camilla Franks has realised a childhood dream.
The celebrated fashionista of top Aussie fashion label Camilla has collaborated with Disney, incorporating Mickey and Minnie Mouse into her iconic designs.
“This is one of those pinch-me moments,” Franks told The Daily Telegraph.
“When you grow up as a little girl, you have these dreams and I feel like all of my childhood dreams have come true with this.
“I was always completely in love with Disney, I think every child is.”
The Camilla Disney collection was previewed at a celebrity breakfast at The Grounds of Alexandria on Monday. It will be released in stores globally in March, including at Disneyland theme parks.
“I feel like the luckiest girl in the world,” Franks said, detailing the work that went in to creating the collection of more than 60 pieces for women, men and children.
“Disney taps into every inner child around the world, this is what the collection is about, remembering that childhood essence that allows us to dream big and also that sense of wonder and possibility. Dreams do come true.”
Camilla hosted the event with daughter, Luna, and mum, Narelle, as well as artist husband JP Jones.
The collaboration was a carefully curated effort and comes as Disney celebrates its 100th anniversary this year.
“Disney is obviously very protective over Mickey and Minnie so every single inch, detail, colour, word, everything had to be sense-checked through Australia and America,” Franks explained.
“I am not just a fashion designer. I like to make people feel, to create stories and to be able to do that with Disney is definitely bucket list stuff.”
