With wild moves and a leafy costume, The Wiggles Tree of Wisdom is ready for his time in the spotlight.
The man behind the costume, Dominic Field, will take centre stage when the children’s entertainers embark on the Tree of Wisdom Big Show Arena Spectacular in November, as well as releasing a new album.
Known for his treelike costume and energetic dance moves, Field shows no signs of slowing down, and claims his body is “genuinely built for it.”
“It’s going well, I have so much fun doing it,” Field told Confidential.
“I’ve been with The Wiggles for about 30 years now. My first appearance was in 1995, so as long as my body can wiggle, I will keep wiggling.”
Field has spent the past month on the road with his Wiggles family, including his uncle, original Blue Wiggle Anthony Field, and his wife who brings Dorothy the Dinosaur to life.
Now, he is stepping into the spotlight to lead The Wiggles newest adventure, a new album and a national arena tour which kicks off on November one.
Celebrities from all over the globe have also joined the fandom.
“We met Jessie J in the UK, and she was cracking up at the dance moves,” Field said.
“We even had a bit of a dance together. Back home, sports stars have reached out for dances.”
Working alongside his uncle Anthony for the album has been a career highlight for Field.
“It’s just been so cool to work with him on it. He’s got so much experience, over 100 albums under his belt and years of entertaining. It was really cool to work with him on all these songs and then the tour.
“We love doing live shows, it’s the closest we get to our audience, and it’s so much fun.”
Field says his role as the tree resonates because he is simply being himself on stage.
“That’s how I move, that’s my energy, and it’s amazing that people connect with it,” he says.
“It reminds them of that guy at a wedding just vibing out, not caring what’s playing, just having a great time.”
He’s loved seeing fans embrace the character, especially parents getting in on the fun by dressing up as the Tree.
“I feel like I’ve really struck a chord with that audience,” he says.
The new album mixes children’s songs with modern touches and covers, including Elvis Presley and Tina Turner’s Nutbush City Limits.
“We realised Australia is the only country that does the Nutbush dance, so we’re going to introduce it to the world,” Field said.
With two new singles out now, presage tickets for the arena tour are available from 1pm today for Amex Card Members, ahead of the official sale starting August one.
