Nickelodeon’s new show has real dancers as hosts to teach pre-schoolers to dance

Move over Hugh Jackman, the next generation of triple threats is coming through.

Leyton Holmes, 16, and Jamila Escobar, 13, have been cast to teach preschoolers how to dance on Nickelodeon’s new show Ready Set Dance.

Leyton, from Strathfield, said he wants to help shake the stigma that dance is an activity just for girls.

“I’ve grown up around it (the stigma) but at the end of the day, it’s something I really love to do and that’s why I want to encourage younger boys to pursue ballet because there’s nothing else quite like it,” he said.

Jamila from Liverpool, who was a back-up dancer for Justin Bieber’s Purpose Tour in 2017, hopes her new role is the start of a professional dance career.

“Ever since I was little I’ve really wanted to perform with Beyonce, that’s like my really end goal,” she said.

Ready Set Dance airs Mondays at 10am on Nick Jr.
