It was the worst kept secret but Hollywood actor Matt Damon has finally confirmed his “secret” cameo in the Marvel blockbuster Thor: Love and Thunder.
The Academy Award winner will reprise his role as an Asgardian actor who played the character of Loki in a stage play in Thor: Ragnarok alongside Sam Neill and Luke Hemsworth.
“I don’t know if it’s a secret or not though, everybody knows,” Damon told Sirius XM’s The Jess Cagle Show on Wednesday.
“I went down there [Australia] to shoot. I think they sussed it out, because paparazzi took pictures of us so that they sussed out what we were doing.
“We were kind of reprising a cameo that Luke Hemsworth and I did in the last one. And we had a ball and so Taika [Waititi] had us back again, to kind of run that joke back and upgrade it a little bit.”
Damon and his wife Luciana Barroso jetted down under with their kids in January for filming of director Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love and Thunder.
The film, which also stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman and Christian Bale, is expected to add around $178 million to the Australian economy.
Damon, 50, spent five months in Australia and split his time between Byron Bay and Moore Park’s Fox Studios in Sydney for filming.
He’s currently back in the US promoting his latest film Stillwater.
It comes after it was revealed that another Hollywood A-lister, Russell Crowe, also landed a cameo in the latest instalment of Thor.
Crowe, 57, was cast in the role of the Greek God Zeus and he wrapped filming in April.
