SHE’S lighting up movie screens as one of Hollywood’s hottest stars, but Margot Robbie has revealed she wants a career behind the camera.

The Aussie actor told Elle magazine her sights are set on becoming a director so she can have more input into her films.

“I still love acting,” she said. “But I’ve spent the past 10 years on a film set, and I realised that if I am pouring my heart and soul into a film, I want to be one of those voices in the conversation making decisions.”

Robbie is winning rave reviews for her role as American figure skater Tonya Harding in the biopic I, Tonya, having already picked up an AACTA award and a Golden Globe nomination.

She said playing a real character “who’s very much alive and is widely documented, can be more intimidating”.

The 27-year-old, who shot to stardom in The Wolf Of Wall Street with Leonardo DiCaprio in 2013, revealed she went on a shopping splurge when she first arrived in New York, spending her first paycheck on an airplane charm from Tiffany.

“It was the best feeling ever. I got my little blue box, and I got it for myself,” she said.
