Love Island star Amelia Marni says she was left “confused and embarrassed” after being told off by a flight attendant over her “inappropriate” outfit.

Aussie influencer and Love Island favourite Amelia Marni has hit out at Jetstar over social media, accusing a male flight attendant of “slut-shaming” her during a recent flight to Bali.

Departing from Sydney airport, Marni, who was travelling with two friends was wearing what she described as a ‘low key comfy outfit consisting of cargo pants and a black crop top.

The 26-year-old said she was singled out and criticised for wearing “revealing and inappropriate clothing” by a male flight attendant who insisted she change.

“He said you need to cover up, what you’re wearing is disrespectful and inappropriate.

“He caught me off guard, I wasn’t offended but I was confused and embarrassed as he told me this in front of a whole bunch of people.”

“Obviously if I was in a different country and there was a certain cultural expectation to cover up of course I would, but I boarded an Aussie flight on an Aussie airline in Australia.”

While Marni says she isn’t offended she pointed out her male travel companion was also wearing a crop top yet wasn’t subject to the same criticism.

“I want to know, how much is too much? If my male friend sitting next to me can have his belly out why can’t I?”

“I then asked him if he had written documents that proved this dress code which he was then unable to answer.”

Marni says the situation was defused only after a female flight attendant reassured both the passengers and her colleague the clothing was “fine”.

A spokesman for Jetstar said while the airline does have basic dress requirements on their flights, such as wearing shoes, they do not have any relevant policy regarding crop tops and the incident would be investigated further.

In a statement, the airline said “Our team will reach out to Amelia and to our crew member to understand what’s taken place, and we apologise if there’s been any misunderstanding of our policy.”
