HE famously used one Logies opening speech to tell his former Channel 9 boss David Gyngell he looked like a crack head and another to roast Seven West media CEO Tim Worner for his messy affair with former employee Amber Harrison.
Now Dave ‘Hughesy’ Hughes has been given another shot at ridiculing local television’s elite.
Hughes has been enlisted to open the Logies broadcast for the fourth year in a row and has two well known faces in his sights.
“I will touch on some of the hot topics in TV and walk the line between comedy and slander,” Hughes told Confidential.
“George Calombaris seems to be in the news a bit and Grant Denyer is always an easy target.
“Luckily, I know most big names in the industry are happy to be made a laughing stock of on the big night. Hopefully, I can get through it this year without getting myself banned from any more networks as I try to convince everyone ‘it’s an honour to be mentioned’.”
Grammy award-winning UK recording artist Jess Glynne has also been confirmed to perform on the night.
Glynne spent her childhood watching Neighbours and Home And Away and is looking forward to meeting Australia’s TV talent.
“I am so excited to be a part of it,” she said.
“My mum was obsessed with Neighbours and Home And Away when I was growing up, so I used to watch those shows every day. “And I just love Kylie Minogue.”
The 60th TV WEEK Logie Awards will take place on Sunday, July 1, at The Star on the Gold Coast.
