KIIS radio host Kyle Sandilands has accused Prince Harry and Meghan Markle of hypocrisy after they named their newborn daughter after the Queen and Harry’s late mother, Princess Diana.
The shock jock criticised the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s baby name Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor after it was revealed they welcomed the birth of their second child on Friday.
“I heard Brooklyn [Ross] mention it this morning at 5.30am on my way in and I nearly had a coronary, I was not happy,” Sandilands said on the Kyle and Jackie O show on Monday.
“They want to distance themselves from the royal family but every name is... they hate the royal family, I don’t know what’s going on with them. I get Diana, Harry’s mother... I like [Lilibet] but I don’t want them using it. Instantly I didn’t like it.”
In March, Sandilands also slammed the couple’s Oprah Winfrey tell-all, claiming the interview was “all about making Meghan look good” and saying he didn’t believe some of Markle’s claims.
Last month, Sandilands’ co-host Jackie O Henderson echoed similar sentiments.
“The more I sit back and think about it, the more I don’t like what happened there. I think he’s (Harry) made a mistake with Meghan,” Henderson said on-air.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed the birth of baby Lilibet at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, CA. weighing in at 7lbs 11 oz.
In a message on their Archewell Foundation website, they thanked the public for their support.
“On June 4th, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili,” they wrote.
“She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we’ve felt from across the globe. Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family.”
It comes after the Sussexes, who quit royal life in January 2020, made explosive claims in an interview with Winfrey earlier this year.
There were reports of strained relationships after Markle alleged that a member of the royal family made racist remarks about the two-year-old son she shares with Prince Harry, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
Shortly after the allegations sparked uproar, Prince William responded and denied the claims.
“We are very much not a racist family,” he told Sky News.
