Kyle Sandilands has caused global outrage after an interview in which he made sexual comments about the Queen as well as Meghan’s mother. Here’s what happened.

Kyle Sandilands causes public outrage yet again

Radio shock jock Kyle Sandilands has called Meghan Markle’s mum Doria Ragland “the black mum,” suggested her half-brother was an escort to the Queen and his blood-ties with Meghan were a “leg opener.”

In a KIIS FM interview with Meghan’s estranged half-brother Thomas Markle on Monday, which has since been edited, the radio host referred to the Duchess’ mum as “the black mum.”

Sandilands also said Thomas’ relationship with the Duchess was “a leg opener.”

“You would have said ‘hey have you seen that Meghan Markle? Well she’s my sister. Boing! The legs spring open. It’s amazing,” Sandilands said.

The radio host also joked about Thomas offering sexual services to the Queen after asking whether he received any perks as a sibling of a member of the royal family.

“I was going to ring up the Queen to see if I can rent [Frogmore Cottage near Windsor Castle].. to offer my services,” Thomas said.

“What do you mean, sexually, to the Queen? That’s a bit much,” Sandilands replied.

Sandilands then went on to ask whether he would be sexually interested in Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie or “the bloody things with the stupid hats.”

“Would you go there?” he said.

“I’d do anything for $100 bucks,” Meghan’s brother replied.

The comments came as part of an interview about Meghan’s strained relationship with her family following the news that Harry and Meghan would step down as senior members of the Royal Family.

KIIS promoted the interview on their website as “our full chat with Thomas Markle Jr” despite parts of the live audio being cut.

A spokeswoman for KIIS FM’s parent company ARN said the interview was a “cheeky and irreverent interview in the style that regular listeners of the show are accustomed to.

“When listening to this interview within the context of the show, it is clear this is a light-hearted and inoffensive chat.”

They also said “it’s not uncommon” for online versions of live broadcasts to be edited to produce a ‘best of’ each day.

Sandilands’ crude remarks come after the radio host last year made offensive comments about the Virgin Mary, resulting in calls for him to be sacked.

Sandilands in September said the Virgin Mary had been “chock-a-blocked” behind a camel shed.

The remarks offended religious groups, prompting protests outside the station and forcing Sandilands to broadcast an eight-minute apology.
