“Some people ask me why with a successful career as an actor I would choose to step behind the camera and get more deeply involved in film production,” the 36-year-old said.

“After over 20 years in the film industry it became clear to me that I no longer wanted to be involved in a limited capacity. I want to be involved in the whole picture.

“I feel an intense need and I have an insatiable drive to tell meaningful stories, ones with impact.”

She and her husband, filmmaker Mark Polish, created production company Make Pictures and in 2017 released their first film, Nona.

The film centralises around the world of sex slavery and trafficking, a difficult topic but one Bosworth felt essential to highlight.

“I am the executive producer, my husband is the writer, director and cinematographer of the picture and together we are partners,” she said.

“We embarked on a story that we both felt had not been narratively told and that needed to be told.

“We understood that if you want to make change you have to step in and be the change.

“We urge one another to make the world a better place through our art.”

Bosworth joined a group of the city’s most successful woman at the ceremony to name Skip Capital founder Kim Jackson as Veuve Clicquot’s business woman of the year, an honour that has been awarded since 1972.
