Justin Hemmes and girlfriend Madeline Holtznagel contract Covid

Bar baron Justin Hemmes and his model girlfriend have been struck down with the Covid virus, going into isolation ahead of the festive season.

Festive celebrations are in limbo for pub baron Justin Hemmes, who is among the most recent high-profile Australians to be struck down with Covid-19.

Sunday Confidential can reveal the chief executive of Merivale caught the virus last weekend and is currently in isolation with his model girlfriend, Madeline Holtznagel, who also has it.

Hemmes’ team went to ground once Sunday Confidential made calls regarding his positive diagnosis on Monday, with his publicist refusing to confirm or deny the news, telling Confidential: “I am actually dealing with a positive Covid case myself and my health comes first.”

Holtznagel’s agent Martin Walsh, from Chadwicks, said he wouldn’t comment on his client’s personal life.

Hemmes has a tight-knit, incredibly loyal team around him and is surprised the news got out.

The father-of-two and his 26-year-old partner are believed to have spent last week and weekend out and about in Sydney, predominantly at his new Ivy venue, MuMu, prior to their positive test results.

Holtznagel, who usually spends her week sharing images on Instagram while dining at her wealthy partner’s many venues, has not shared anything on her social media site since last weekend. Nor has Hemmes.

Sunday Confidential also understands former star cricketer Michael Clarke had a scare but his test came back negative.

Deputy PM Barnaby Joyce, Olympic diver Matthew Mitcham, The Project’s Pete Helliar, MAFS contestant Jessica Power, and reality couple Matty J and Laura Byrne, are among other well-known Australians who have caught the virus.

The Block twins Luke and Josh Packham have also contracted Covid-19.
