Julie Bishop flies economy to pal Karl Stefanovic’s lavish Mexican nuptials

Former foreign minister Julie Bishop has flown into Mexico with property developer partner David Panton today for her friend Karl Stefanovic’s Cabo wedding, travelling economy class for the lavish celebration.

Former foreign minister Julie Bishop flew into Mexico today for her friend Karl Stefanovic’s destination wedding.

And while tomorrow’s nuptials are all about the Today Show host and his bride Jasmine Yarbrough, they also presented the perfect opportunity for Ms Bishop to unwind from a frantic final week of parliament with her long-time partner, property developer David Panton.

After flying economy from Los Angeles into the Mexican resort haven, Ms Bishop is to be the highest profile guest at the wedding.

This comes after a string of high profile no-shows, including groomsman James Packer, radio personality Alan Jones, publicist Roxy Jacenko, model Jordan Barrett and cricketer Shane Warne.

Two hours after landing, Ms Bishop and Mr Panton were captured sharing a rare candid moment, walking together slowly along the northern beach of One & Only Palmilla resort.

As Mr Panton cooled off afterwards with a quick swim, Ms Bishop ran along the sand to grab a towel from a nearby attendant.

The pair then strolled back towards the hotel, greeting guests who lay sprawled on sun lounges on several waterfront terraces overlooking the Sea of Cortez.

With no official events scheduled for day two of the four day celebration, some of the 200 attendees spent yesterday relaxing in the sprawling grounds of the beachfront resort.
