Actor Jodi Gordon is taking life one day at a time.

After spending a month in rehab earlier this year, the popular actor has abstained from alcohol as she attempts to get her health back on track following a difficult few years.

“It is one day at a time,” the mother-of-one told The Daily Telegraph.

“That is just, I don’t drink just for today. It is a journey but I have a lot of support around me and I have to do a lot of things to ensure I look after myself in that regard. It is a commitment I make to myself daily.”

She added: “Life has taken a big change in a different direction I guess, in a very authentic and honest direction, which is quite confronting and scary at times but it has been the most wonderful thing that has ever happened to me.”

Gordon, 37, has been a fixture on Australian television for nearly 20 years, rising to national fame playing Martha MacKenzie on Home And Away.

Her other acting credits include Underbelly: Badness, Camp and most recently, Neighbours, for which she will appear in the soap’s final episode.

Behind the flashy celebrity life, she has struggled.

“I am very much on the health journey,” Gordon said, launching the latest Life Botanics supplements range as ambassador for the brand.

“I think it starts with staying authentically connected to myself. So what is that today? Does that mean I need to meditate in the morning because I am stressed? Does that mean I need to exercise? Does it mean I need to go for a swim in the ocean?

“Does it mean I need to take care of my skin? Do I need to write in my journal. It is listening to my body and figuring out what I need to do to get through today.”

Gordon is not sure what the future holds.

“Right now it is about me in this place today.

“I have made some big changes this year and right now it is just staying connected to what is going on in the here and now.

“Everything will reveal itself in time and I am really excited to see what is behind each door as I come to that phase in my life if I keep taking care of myself just today then I am getting a better sense of purpose, like ambition and self awareness if I keep taking care of myself one day at a time.”
