You could say Hannah Hollis has impeccable timing.
The respected Fox Sports presenter is in the third trimester of her first pregnancy with her baby girl due at the end of the NRL season.
“My husband and I have always wanted a family and it was about finding a time that worked for us, for our careers and the stage of life that we were at,” Hollis told The Daily Telegraph. “It worked quickly and efficiently and baby girl will be joining us in (NRL) grand final week at this stage. I’ve hit the third trimester so we are nearing the point where we can say the countdown is on.”
Hollis, 31, and husband, Tom Lee, have been married since November, 2019.
She has a busy schedule working for Fox Sports, covering multiple codes of sport including league and netball.
“Given she will arrive in the off-season, we will have summer together and then I will be ready to launch into another big year of NRL, netball and there will be a world cup for netball in South Africa,” she said.
“So I will be ready to hit the ground running for round one for both of those codes, which was important to me when discussing with my husband a timeline for our future.”
Hollis, who was born in Darwin and grew up in Canberra, is regarded a star of sport broadcasting in Australia.
“I absolutely love what I do and I think that is what anchors my motivation,” she explained. “I am really excited for the future and what is to come with my baby girl but given the work that I do is so seasonal, I really wanted to be a part of the football and netball seasons as much as I could and Tom and I have been really fortunate that I get to actually enjoy all of it, which is actually perfect timing.”
While sport is Hollis’ work, it is also a great passion in her personal life.
“Sport and an appreciation of it will be very important in our household,” she said.
“I also fundamentally believe in the value of team sports for boys and girls – decision making and leadership and teamwork and all of those wonderful skills you often aren’t aware you are learning on a soccer field or the athletics track, it is a great way to keep fit and enjoy a rounded lifestyle.”
