The British soap star, who has been travelling regularly to Sydney to see her partner, says she’s not ruling out relocating, calling it “an expensive relationship.”

UK soap star Farrel Hegarty has a reason to keep returning to Australia — and it might just convince her to call it home.

The Coronation Street actor, who played Lou Michaelis on the long-running British soap, recently wrapped up her contract, and with her girlfriend Tricia based in Sydney, Hegarty has been making regular trips Down Under.

And she’s not ruling out a permanent move.

“It’s an expensive relationship,” Hegarty told The Daily Telegraph.

“Originally, before I got the show (Coronation Street), I was going to move here. But then I got the job and had to stay in the UK.

“I definitely could [live here]. But I think there are some things still at home, like jobs and events, but I don’t necessarily have to be anywhere.”

This is her second visit to Australia this year, and the 37-year-old estimates she flies across the seas about four times annually since the couple got together a year ago.

As for long-term plans in the UK, she’s not so sure.

“I don’t think I will settle there forever,” she said.

“Basically my girlfriend’s already said to me that she doesn’t want to be there, she sees herself in Australia at the end of her life.”

While Hegarty has gained a steady following online with 164K Instagram followers, and was recently nominated for a content creator award, she is hesitant to embrace the influencer label.

“I say I’m an actor and content creator, just not an influencer. The term is so horrible.”

Being open about her sexuality has also attracted unwanted attention, with Hegarty candid about the kind of comments she hears regularly.

“We get told oh you haven’t had the right man yet, or a man can turn you or give me a shot and that sort of stuff,” she said.

“No, thank you, I don’t need you or any man. Most gay women have had something along those lines, just like comments, especially ‘what a waste,’ it’s so offensive.”
