KIIS radio co-host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson broke down in tears live on-air after a cruel prank.
Earlier this week, Henderson wrongly accused neighbours at her $11 million Woollahra home of dumping their rubbish into her bin and called them “scumbags” and “a**holes” to thousands of listeners on the Kyle and Jackie O show.
Her rant made headlines however by Wednesday, Henderson, 46, backtracked after realising it was all a misunderstanding as a neighbour had actually cleaned her rubbish for her.
“...I don’t like to leave the house much so I have just left [rubbish] there for weeks and weeks and [it’s] piled up,” she said.
“So what I think has happened is a lovely, kind neighbour has thought, ‘I’ll clean up Jackie’s mess and put it in her bin’... I hope they didn’t read or hear this because I’ve called them a ‘scumbag’ for cleaning up my mess.
“I feel really terrible, I don’t know who did it but I’d like to say ‘thank you’ and I will make an effort now to make sure those papers get put inside instead of being left outside on the driveway.”
Moments later a caller named “Ash” rang in claiming to be one of Henderson’s neighbours and confronted the radio star about her complaint earlier in the week.
Henderson had told listeners “Some a**hole’s dumped all their rubbish in my bins. What a p***k, that’s the lowest of low you scumbag!”
In response, the caller told Henderson that the entire street was “pretty pissed” about the language she used.
“Thanks for the blast on the radio, I’m pretty pissed,” Ash said.
A mortified Henderson replied, “No, I love all my neighbours... I didn’t realise that the street was pissed at me. I didn’t spray you guys I promise.”
Her co-host Kyle Sandilands eventually confessed that Ash was actually a “fake caller” not a neighbour and that it was just a prank which left Henderson in tears.
“I don’t even know why I’m crying, it must be the hormones,” she said sobbing.
Sandilands said, “I thought this would be hilarious and it’s backfired.”
It comes after the KIIS FM duo who were the leaders in breakfast in the last radio survey, fell back to third position after falling 3.4 percentage points to a share of 12.1 per cent.
