Influencer Jade Tuncdoruk fashion faux pas at Australian Fashion Week 2022

Confidential wondered whether influencer Jade Tuncdoruk may have misread her invite for an Australian Fashion Week event this week.

Could controversial influencer Jade Tuncdoruk have misread her invite?

Perhaps she thought she was at Paris Fashion Week.

That’s what Confidential wondered as Tuncdoruk frocked up in head to toe luxe Louis Vuitton on day two of Afterpay Australian Fashion Week.

Normally it wouldn’t be an issue but the clothing choice was noted by many industry commentators as yet another faux pas for Tunchy, whose first name is pronounced ‘jar-day’.

“Obviously everyone loves a high end label but at Fashion Week, where it is all about Australian designers, it is pretty average to promote an international brand,” said one local designer. “She clearly hasn’t read the room. Of course you can wear international designers at Fashion Week but when you are an influencer and people are dressing you, it would be nice to support local. Why not accessorise with a bag or shoe but wear an Australian designer?”

To be fair, on Monday, Tuncdoruk wore a Camilla and Marc suit with “Gucci everything else”.

It is the latest gaffe for Tuncdoruk, who pranced around for photo opportunities at Carriageworks in Eveleigh throughout the week.

She appeared to be invited mainly to shows put on by her management agency, MAXCONNECTORS, as they also run a PR business while specialising in influencers.

Tuncdoruk works full time as an influencer and uses her platform to promote items ranging from clothing to cars, holiday destinations, beauty products and even candles. She regularly receives gifts from high end labels wanting her to spruik their products.

She has however been threatened with cancellation when social media has blown up over a series of controversial incidents, that seemed all but forgotten this week as she sat front row at several big shows.

Among the controversies, she faced fierce backlash over offensive comments made about non-English speaking Uber Eats drivers, selling sponsored clothing items and pressuring a holiday rental company for a honeymoon refund.

In January, MAXCONNECTERS, said it was reviewing its position with Jade.

“MAXCONNECTORS is unable to comment as the situation is under review,” a representative for the agency told Confidential at the time.

Since then though, the agency has refused to be drawn on anything to do with Tuncdoruk.

At Fashion Week, she was spotted arm in arm with agency senior talent manager, Renee Thomson.

On Thursday, Tuncdoruk did go local though as she attended the One Mile show to support close friend and fellow influencer Sammy Robinson. She wore a stunning white cut-out dress designed by her friend.
