WHEN Safe Harbour star Hazem Shammas was on stage accepting his silver Logie on the Gold Coast on Sunday, his heart and mind were back in Sydney.
Shammas dashed from The Royal Women’s Hospital in Randwick to the glitz and glamour of the red carpet, leaving behind his new baby son, partner Suzannah McDonald and their 18-month-old boy Nakhli.
The baby was born nine weeks premature, too early for the couple to decide on a name.
For the moment they are calling him Akhoy, which means baby brother in Arabic.
“I reconsidered the whole trip and thought ‘I can’t leave’ but then Suzannah, who is amazing, just said ‘shut up and get on the plane and have a good time,” Shammas said.
