- Game of Thrones S7: Why episode six will change everything
GAME of Thrones fans long ago learned any character can die — from Ned Stark (Sean Bean) on the chopping block to nameless crispy critter Lannister soldiers.
But, doubtless few of them thought this applied dragons, or that The Mother of Dragon’s scaly children could come back from the dead.
That’s right, Winter is finally here and you’re going to get chills.
Last episode we saw our heroes march north of the wall like something from Ocean’s 11 as everyone’s favourite bastard Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) sought to capture a weight and prove to the rest of the world there is actually an undead army out there and he’s not just batcrap crazy.
And from there, the penultimate episode of Game of Thrones’ seventh season is all flaming swords, death and mayhem, rum swigs from the bottle and cussing — so much cussing.
George Clooney ... sorry, Jon Snow and his merry men soon show off their various skills in the manner of any good caper.
Gendy can run (turns out being amazingly well endowed wasn’t enough).
Beric’s sword gets all firey.
Jorah is suddenly all humble and loves his daddy.
And The Hound, Thoros and Tormund can drink and come up with a string of new and inventive swear words.

Meanwhile, Winterfell is coming apart at the seams as sister faces off with sister and Littlefinger (The Wire’s Aidan Gillen) plays everyone off against each other.
There’s just one episode left in this season of GoTs and Beyond the Wall delivers in spades, complete with massive fights on frozen wastes, dragons v undead hordes and a shocking series of deaths.
We learned long ago that under George RR Martin any character can die and no episode showed this like a Wildling axe to the face like last night’s.
GoTs certainly left the best to — almost — last.
